Press Release– Knox County Prosecutor’s Office

An Edwardsport man pleaded guilty after jury selection and just before the start of opening statements in his trial on Wednesday.

55 year old Keith Rogers was on trial for Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily injury. The charges stem from his actions on August 19 of 2015.

Rogers entered a guilty plea in Knox Superior Court 1. A jury was selected on Tuesday and those selected waited in another room during the plea.

Rogers admitted to striking the victim, his fiancé, in the face and hitting her head against something. Rogers actions broke the nose and orbital socket of the victim.

A level 5 felony carries a sentence of 1 to 6 years and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan thanked the jury for their participation in the process, even though the guilty plea ended their role in the case.

Sentencing is set for April 27.
